My name is Mrs. Rachel Carothers. This is my first year teaching with Frisco ISD, and I am very excited to be a part of such a growing, progressive district. I teach Theatre 6-8 and the Animation Master course.
I have worked in numerous theatre education backgrounds, including school districts, children and teen theatres and workshops. I also have a diverse background in theatre, from acting to building to house managing and much more. I have a huge appreciation for the theatre as a place of communication as well as entertainment.
My philosophy on education:
- The most important goal of an educator is to teach students how to become lifelong learners.
- Everyone has something to contribute, teach and learn.
- My job is to facilitate a learning environment that fosters trust, safety and possibility.
My favorite role so far: Alice in "Closer", by Patrick Marber
Theatre hero: Jerzy Grotowski
All time favorite play: "The Phantom of the Opera"
Favorite theatre quote: "The only thing a work of art can achieve is to create a desire for a different state of the world. And this desire is revolutionary." -Jean Genet |
